EXECUTING & NAVIGATING IN BUDCAST REPORTS
Log into BudCast by using your KU Online ID & password. After logging in the module launcher screen will display.

Select Reporting. Select the Reporting button from the module launcher screen to navigate to the reporting module.
If you are already logged in, you can select the Reporting button from the task bar located on the right-hand side of the screen.
Reporting Module Panes. There are three panes in the initial launch of the Reporting Module:
- Reports Pane- holds all BudCast reports.
- Open Report Navigation Pane- reveals the reports that have been opened.
- Run Time Selection Pane- displays the specific report selected.
Report Folder Structure. The Reports Pane contains BudCast reports stored in a folder/tree hierarchy. Click the button located next to the folder name to expand the tree. To collapse the tree click the button.
Opening a Report. To open a report, double click the report name. The run time selection pane reveals the options contained in the report. The title of the opened report is also revealed in the Open Reports Pane.
Choosing Parameters. Users choose report parameters in the Run Time Selection Pane. In this particular reports the selection criteria is based on the ARSP/Cost Center tree.
- Use the drop down menu to select the Version ‘Actuals’ or ‘Actuals-Transactions’. The user should ONLY select these two Versions from the dropdown menu, despite the other various options available.
Executing a Report. After the parameters have been selected, click the button to run the report.
Execution status and time will also show in this area of the Run Time Selection Pane. After executing a report the report will appear in the “Run Time Selection Pane” of BudCast. The larger the selection, and more granular the data, the longer the report will take to execute.
Maximize the Run Time Selection Pane. To view the report you have executed in full screen press the button to minimize the Report Selection and Open Reports windows. To view those panes again press the button and the windows will reappear.
Canceling a Report. The button becomes available in case the user decides to stop the report.
Closing a Report. After a report is executed and opened it will appear in the Open Reports window pane. To close an open report, select the report you want to close (you may have multiple open at once), and click the button in the Open Reports window.
Accessing Multiple Reports. In the example Run Time Selection, multiple Cost Centers, Department and ARSP Reports were selected. To access all pages of the reports, either use the drop down menu to select the one to view, or scroll left and right using the arrows located next to the drop down menu.
Expand & Collapse Rows Inside the Report. Moving the mouse to any cell that is expandable changes the cursor into a red triangle. When a red triangle appears, double click on that level and the row expands/drills down to the next available level.
The user can keep drilling down into the rows by clicking the button that appears until they have reached the last level of transaction detail.
To collapse the row inside the report the user would move their cursor over the row, and then double click on the row when the cursor appears as a minus sign .
Expand & Collapse Rows from the Tool Bar. Other expand/collapse row options are located in the in the Report Viewer toolbar.
- The button expands all rows in the selected report out to the lowest level.
- The button expands all rows in the report out to the next drop-down level.
- The button expands the selected Node out to the lowest level. An example of a Node in this report would be the blue row labeled ‘CF Course Fees”.
- The button collapses all rows in the report to the lowest level.
Return to Run Time Selection. The icon allows you to return to the run-time selection mode and run a new report with different month, year, and Chartfield1 selections.
