IF BUDCAST CLIENT IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY LAUNCHED
Occasionally machines will not recognize the correct program to launch the BudCast installer.
If the BudCast Installer isn’t automatically launched. If after selecting to trust content and run, the Client isn’t automatically launched proceed with the remaining steps shown below.
Open with “Java Web Start Launcher”. The installation file for both the BudCast Client and BudCast Report Viewer is .jnlp (java network launch protocol). This file type must be opened with “Java Web Start Launcher”.
- Click the folder button on start menu taskbar.
- Click on ‘Downloads’ on the left hand side of the window to show the list of recent Downloads the computer.
- Locate the File named ‘FMWWeb.jnlp’ and right click on it.
- Click “Open with…..”
Browse to find Java Web Start Launcher. Step #2 will bring up the “Open with” window. The default program is listed, but users have the option to select another program to open this type of file. Click “Browse. . .” in order to find Java Web Start Launcher in your folder structure.
Navigate to the ‘Program Files’ folder. Under your computer’s C: drive double click on the folder named ‘Program Files’ to open it.
Select the Java Folder. In your Program Files folder double click on the folder named ‘Java’.
Select the Most Recent Version of Java. Double click on the most recent version of Java (in this case version 7 - ‘jre7’).
Locate Java in “bin” Folder. After clicking on the most recent version of Java double click on the the folder “bin” to find the Java Web Start Launcher.
Select the Java Web Start Launcher. Java Web Start Launcher is found within the folder “bin”. It will be the file name: javaws.exe. Open the file by double clicking on it, or click on it once and click the ‘Open’ button.
The BudCast install file will now launch properly and continue as expected. The logon screen will appear, and the user may log on with their KU credentials.
